Foundation Day of Bihar

When Govt. of Bihar announced to celebrate the 99th Foundation day of Bihar I got confused. Becasue Bihar is not mere a patch of land that got divided 99 years back from Bengal presidency, but has history engraved in its every part.  Bihar's antiquity is evident from its name, which is derived from the ancient word "VIHARA" (monastery). It is indeed a land of monasteries.

Apart from  Budhism, Hindiism, Jainism, Sikhism, Islam and Christianity all has its deep root in Bihar and has its shrines abound in this ancient land where India's first major empires rose and fell. Where the ruins of the worlds' earliest university slumbers in the void of time. The passage of Ganga, flowing wide and deep enrich the plains of Bihar before distributing in Bengal's deltoid zone. It has also witnessed the first emprire and republic on its two different sides. The land has a reference in Ramayana (Mithila) and Mahabhrat (Aug Pradesh). Dhambha Gosh of Ashoka the great set new boundaries.  Shershah gave the administrative tool to Indian Gverrnance system and Gandhi experimented  his tool of SATYGRAHA in Champaran.

Its time to feel proud to be called BIHARI and participate in Bihar utsav 2011. Because it is immaterial whether its 99th, 999th or 9999th Bihar Foundation Day.  But it is prime time to come out of the obscurity and contribute in the development of this great land.

By a proud BIHARI
